In March of 2009, my family and I were interviewed by Storycorps. The piece was included in a digital archive as part of the 9/11 memorial museum in NYC. If you go there, clips of the conversation can be heard. I recently reached out to the organization for an audio file of this interview.
To my delight, within days I received an email with the entire recording. I don’t recall ever hearing the entire thing and I couldn’t wait to hear it. It was heartbreaking, in some ways, to hear how much pain we were all still in at that time. It was also encouraging to know that many of the stories we shared about my father have been reflected in the creative piece I’ve been working on for so long now. Listening to the 40-minute long conversation was the icing on the cake I’ve been looking for. I definitely intend on adding it to the digital version of my thesis presentation.
With that being said, I think I am almost ready to shift gears. While I do not think I will ever feel “done” with this creative journey, I am close to feeling satisfied with what I’ve accomplished relative to my intentions. I’d love to begin setting up a website soon and drafting the other parts of my thesis….I still have a LONG way to go but I can FINALLY see the finish line!!!
I also played around with flippingbook online……I put the whole PDF of my book in there…it’s a “free trial” so it may expire soon….Kinda cool to see it that way, though!
